Modern Casting magazine is a trade journal for owners, managers, and workers in the foundry industry. The magazine needed a comprehensive design overhaul, including a cover that would present a more contemporary image, and a layout that would improve readability. We redesigned the journal's masthead with new typography, keeping a conservative appearance but introducing a more flexible cover layout. The new interior design includes navigational cues that help readers find regular features and columns and easily identify articles, case studies, and research reports. We provided all design files electronically as templates in the magazine's page layout application, giving them a turn-key package for doing in-house design and production of each issue.
